In SE Portland, take SE 52nd south from Powell Blvd., about 1 1/4 miles to Duke, and turn left (you'll see a huge Christian complex on the SE corner of Duke and 52nd).
Joanna Macy, PhD, is an eco-philosopher, Buddhist scholar, and a visionary leader in the movements for healing our planet, reclaiming our full, vibrant humanity, and creating a survivable future for the generations who will follow us. Her work encourages cultivation of a visceral sense of oneness with the earth and all species, and embodies engaged spirituality on behalf of all beings. In 2014, Joanna was honored by Bioneers with a Life Achievement Award.
The author and coauthor of more than a dozen books, Joanna Macy has led workshops around the world her book Despair and Power in the Nuclear Age was published in the early 1980s. World as Lover, World as Self and her memoir, Widening Circles, are powerful expressions her brilliant mind and passionate heart. Coming Back to Life presents the core processes and practices she has developed in her experiential workshops. With her colleague Anita Barrows, Joanna has produced translations of Rainer Maria Rilke's work. Some of her books will be available at the workshop.
