By Betsy Toll

Winter Solstice Celebration

Saturday, December 20, 7:00–9:00 pm  (doors at 6:30)
An ancient conifer against a shimmering winter sky at Mount Rainier 4312 SE Stark, Portland.
Free at the door, or by donation.
Doors will close at 7:30
(text the number on the door if you arrive late)

A benefit for the Warm Springs Tribes’ native language program for children K-12. Support for Warm Springs is very welcome.  Register here.

Living Earth’s annual Solstice Celebration is a bow to our planet’s celestial dance, with music and reflection, candlelighting, stories, and a circle dance. Barbara Ford and Betsy Toll will share remembrances of their teacher and friend, Joanna Macy. All are welcome!

Music with Kavita MacMillan and Friends will bring all our voices into this space.

This is a free celebration, but register now   to support our Warm Springs effort. Choose your donation amount or sliding scale (minimum is $3 online). Give as abundantly or modestly as feels right for you, and note “Warm Springs” or “Winter Solstice” when you donate. Living Earth is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Contribution may be fully tax-deductible; please ask your tax professional. Donations of like-new winter clothing for Warm Springs are also welcome at the door.Kat Macmillan at the microphone, laughing.

This year the world & our planet have entered a strange bardo, a nebulous state between past and future. We can’t go back and the path ahead is unnerving and uncertain. But visions of a world of greater cooperation and compassion, creativity and courage, justice and joy are germinating like seeds beneath the winter snow, waiting for spring.

Register now, space may be limited.

Remember, donations of like-new winter clothing for Warm Springs are also welcome at the door!  We’ll turn toward the winter with our hearts full of warmth, community, and care.
