Being Alive Here and Now
Community Discussion
Sunday, August 17 | 4:00–6:00 pm
Friends Meeting House
4312 SE Stark, Room 12
All are welcome, fully accessible.
Well into this disturbing new era, rash attacks threaten marginalized communities, civil liberties, education, the environment, and more. Actions by our own government are eroding precedence, undermining trust and community bonds, upsetting economies and global relations, and disempowering ‘we, the people.’
These Community Discussions are thoughtful opportunities to breathe together, acknowledge the losses and possibilities now at hand. We center principles of peaceful resistance and engaged nonviolence, supporting compassion, creativity, and courage in a difficult time. In dialogue, we find our own truth and our own work for peace, justice, and creative action in this this moment. And we find resilience and stability in community.
The conversations are thoughtful, heartening, open to anyone unnerved by the challenges of this volatile time. We do not attempt to convince others, but to hear each other, deepen our understanding, and enrich our perspectives. Within a light framework, everyone is welcome to contribute, listen, and engage. Right actions emerge so we can each hold up our piece of the sky in our communities, and far beyond local boundaries. Please join us!
Please note: We’ll have light snacks and sweets, but this is not a potluck since we won’t have use of a kitchen (feel free to bring a little something if you feel inspired).
Questions? Please contact us.
Optional donations to help cover the rental costs of our community programs are appreciated. Cash or checks can be dropped in the bowl or jar at the event, or made online. Generosity keeps the wheel turning.
