Being Alive Here and Now Community Discussion

Sunday, July 27 | 4:00–6:00 pm
Friends Meeting House
4312 SE Stark, Room 12

All are welcome, fully accessible. Please join us.

Six months into an unnerving new era for our country, any number of the guiderails supporting our democracy are crumbling. Rash attacks that devastate marginalized communities erode trust and community bonds, undermine local and regional economies, and tatter respect for the government. We can’t ignore the truth of what is happening daily.

These  Community Discussions are thoughtful opportunities to breathe together, acknowledge the losses, and how deeply they affect us — and to validate the morality of peace and justice, nonviolence and compassion, courage and creative resistance. We know we can’t simply stand on the sidelines as our country and our children’s future is ripped apart, and in dialogue, we each find our own truth and our own work as we approach this moment.

Our Discussions are ‘heartening spaces,’ thoughtful and important. There is no hierarchy of suffering or tragedy — all the wounds are intimately interconnected, and so are the  responses and solutions. Gathering for these conversations cross-fertilizes our perspectives and thinking, strengthening our capacities and possibilities. Our courage, visions, talents, and intentions will be vital assets in the months and years ahead.

Everyone is welcome in this work, everyone has something to contribute, to share and to learn. Together, we empower each other. Right actions emerge so we can hold up our piece of the sky here in Oregon in ways that will ripple far beyond these limited boundaries. Come join us!

Please note: This is not a potluck, as we won’t have use of a kitchen, but we’ll have light snacks, and sweets (feel free to bring a little something).

A contemporary, colorful mandala with Earth at its center. All are welcome, there is no charge for these community gatherings. Any questions? Please contact us.

Optional donations to help cover the rental costs of our community programs are appreciated. Cash or checks can be dropped in the bowl or jar at the event, or made online. Generosity keeps the wheel turning.

Living Earth is a 501(c)(3) social benefit organization, IRS # 93-1331068. Contributions are tax deductible per IRS rules. We welcome you to give what you can to support these gatherings.
